I Got Married And Took My Wife’s Last Name. Here’s Why.

I marriage my wife on May 29 th, 2016, and as of that day, I have legally changed my name to match hers.

This decision was attained over many months and many, many conversations. I share this story so that others can explore how I felt throughout the process on their own time, because Im sure it will scare the shit out of many as it definitely has for me.

The Short Story

The brief explanation of why goes like this 😛 TAGEND

She hadnt considered changing her last name from Broberg

I felt strongly about our household having a shared surname

It aligns with my beliefs( makes a family unit, defies gender norms)

It sets an idea( her and I are equals) into action( equal its further consideration of whos last name we take)

I like that it sounds more Jewish( bonus)
