History has a funny route of presenting the present day what’s up.
That’s what happened when these girls got together for a little experiment.
Sounds just about like the exact same word!
Oops, they speak the same speech!
There was a time in Spanish history where Arabs, Jews, and Christians were co-existing fairly peaceably … and sharing a lot of culture to boot. Yes!
The southern part of Spain, known as Andalusia, was largely ruled by Arabic speakers from around 710 to 1492. Christians and Jews lived in towns ruled by Muslim leaders.
While Christians and Jews weren’t exactly on the same level as the leaders, they were able to co-exist quite well. They worked together, analyse together, learned together .*
And nowhere was that tenuous alliance and sharing of culture more evident than in the architecture of the time. If you look at the history of Granada, one of the main cities of Muslim Spain, you’ll watch architectural evidence of cultures mingling. Just look at the buildings: beautiful Muslim palaces on mountainsides, Spanish architecture below.
Least of all these two classmates.
And thanks to this amazing little language experiment, there’s more evidence of a golden age of harmony and cultural exchange.
Because Arab folks, or Moors as the latter are called, lived in Spain for so long, the Arabic language had a huge influence on the pre-existing Spanish.
That’s why there’s so much shared culture, hidden inside words like “sugar, ” “music, ” and “PANTS”!
I love how harmony is concealing underneath the surface of something as basic and fundamental as language.
Harmony and commonality is all around us. We only have to let it in!

Start with doing taunt checkups at home, to get the kitty used to being poked, prodded and squeezed. Get the cat familiarized with the( preferably) solid carrier let Admiral Wuss-Wuss sleep in it, leave in the living room, and make it a general part of life. Next comes car familiarization: take your cat on small rides, and gently increase their length so that Mittens gets used to it, as well as disassociating rides from vet visits.
Its also a good thing to take a towel or blanket that smells of home with you. Use it to stimulate the kitty calmer in the waiting room, in the procedure area, and even leave this bit of home if overnight bide is necessitated. Having a good rapport with the veterinarian also helps being less stressed and having a caring doctor helps the cat, too!

After a long wintertime cooped up in the house, the first sign of spring weather is an invitation to get outside and get active, or at least do something other than staring into the great Netflix abyss under warmcovers.
Of course, I also totally understand the trying rut of a summer slump when it’s almost too hot to do anything but camp out for the purposes of the A.C. ventilate and drown yourself in scoops of ice cream.
Regardless of whether or not you want to venture outside, it’s important to keep your brain induced through the summer fog.
Here are a few routes you can make sure your brain bides busy during this sweltering season.
There is a beautiful reservoir merely shy of 20 minutes from my apartment.
When the climate is comfy, my husband and I go on long-winded hikes up the mountains, exploring different trails, and stopping to admire waterfallsand the tranquility of nature.
One of us will bring our phone for safety purposes, but other than that, unplugging from technology to reconnect with nature doesn’t just soothing it can induce your brain.

2. White Water Rafting

While you could utterly head over to the library and skim through textbooks to learn a new language, there’s actually an app for that( isn’t that always the case ?).
Normally, I’d encourage you all to step away from your cell phones and get some damn vitamin C, but my husband picked up both Spanish Swedish with the help of Duolingo, so needless to say it’s the real deal.
With over 20 speeches to choose from, the more you practise, the more you learn and advance through the course, which gauges your proficiency level after each lesson.
How’s that for a summertime project?
Whether you imagination a jigsaw puzzle, a crossword puzzle, or even Sudoku, the problem-solving skills required for these activities will develop your brain, you’ll have fun while you do it.
Plus, as with just about anything, the more puzzles you solve, the better you’ll get at them.
6. Read Everything and Anything
Take recommendations from your family and friends, and create a read list for the summer.
Pick up avolume you’d normally pass on your way to the YA section of Barnes and Noble, or create a Feedly profile and read throughsome articles that pique your interest.
Not merely can frequent readingphysicallyalter how your brain works and processeslanguage, it can also improve your vocabulary, and even improve your mood.
7. Practice Yoga
Yoga is an amazing option for anyone who doesn’t really enjoy going to a traditional gym.
It necessitates limited equipment, and you are able to practice yoga virtually anywhere.
Although there’s no denying its many physical benefit, yoga also promotes mental stability.
In fact, the only reason I began my own yoga journey was to quiet my thoughts and alleviate stress.
